Valley of Flowers was declared a National Park by UNESCO

Valley of Flowers is located in Chamoli of Uttarakhand and it extends from 3352 m to 3658 meters. UNESCO declared it a National Park in 1982. It is known for its great variety of colorful flowers and many endangered species can be found here.

Hemkund Sahib – 4400 meters

After trek to Valley of Flowers the other place to explore is Hemkund Sahib. There is a Gurudwara behind it is Hemkund Lake and Himganga flows out of it. This Lake is considered pure because in ancient time the 10th Guru of Sikhs Govind Singh Ji meditated on the bank of it.

“Valley of Flowers” is a Small Heaven

It is one of the most beautiful place all over the world. This place looks totally enticing, different species of flowers in different colors bloom all together with exotic views of towering peaks and clear blue sky. July, August and September are best time to visit this place because the valley is at full bloom at that time.

Itinerary

Day 01:- Dehradun to Joshimath (1800 m) (315 km) (8/9 hours) overnight stay in a hotel

Meet us at Dehradun Railway station and the drive is towards Joshimath and the distance is 315 km.

Pass through picturesque places and drive is along these sacred rivers, Ganga, Mandakini and Alaknanda. Reach Joshimath and arrangements will be made in a hotel there.

Day 02:- Drive from Joshimath to Govindghat (18 km) and trek to Ghangria (3078 m) (13 km) (6/7 hours) overnight stay in a hotel

After breakfast drive is from Joshimath to Govindghat and the trek starts from there. Walk along the river, starts from Poolna to reach Ghangria. Go through the shaded and sunny parts and ahead lies adventure of crossing a river.

After a long trek you will come across a flat land, there is a helipad in Ghangria and small space for camping. Further are hotels and restaurants lined up with a Gurudwara. You can accommodate in Gurudwara and have Langar (food) there or check in a hotel.

Day 03:- Ghangria to Valley of Flowers (3700 m) (10 km) and back overnight stay in a hotel

Today you will be trekking to the National Park of Flowers and one of the most beautiful place all over the world. Buy tickets and cross entry gate, there is a narrow path along a stream which flows through this heavenly valley.

It looks totally enticing, different species of flowers in different colors bloom all together with exotic views of towering peaks and clear blue sky. This place is a small heaven on earth and here are not much people so you can explore in peace without the crowd nearby.

The valley is 5-6 km wide and a glacier can be seen at a distance from the end. Further when you go inside the fragrance of flowers will engulf you. Explore this place and get back to the hotel because camping is not allowed in this area.

Day 04:- Ghangria to Hemkund Sahib (4400 m) (6 km) and back (5/6 hours) overnight stay in a hotel

Today have breakfast and head towards Hemkund Sahib because the weather is unpredicted and the rains can occur anytime so start early to get down on time and also the Gurudwara the chants start at 4:00 am.

The ascent to Hemkund Sahib is steep and on the way a waterfall is visible which comes out of a rock wall. With gain in altitude the views get clearer. After two hours you can reach the Gurudwara, behind it lies a glacial lake. The water is pure and clear, at this point you can feel the tranquility. Descending takes time so start the downwards trek after spending good time at this holy place. Reach Ghangria and get to back to the hotel.

Day 05:- Ghangria to Govindghat (13 km) and Drive to Badrinath (28 km) overnight stay in a hotel

Have breakfast and from Ghangria trek towards Govindghat the distance is 13 km and from there vehicles will be arranged till Badrinath.

En route is Pandukeshwar temple which you can visit while your journey to Badrinath. Spend your night in a hotel there.

Day 06:- Badrinath to Dehradun (345 km) (10/12 hours)

Leave early from Badrinath so you can reach Dehradun on time.
