Mukta Top – A vigin trek in Garhwal Himalayas

Mukta Top is an untouched trek in Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarkashi district at an altitude of 3,608 m. The unique features of this trek makes it a surpassing winter trek. This trek is not known by the people yet but when the trekking enthusiasts will come to know about this captivating place they would surely choose “Mukta Top” as their next trekking destination.

Dissimilar Forests and abundance of Wildlife

Forests here are totally different to the forests found in Uttarakhand region, the variety of trees you’ll find here are Maple, Pine, Oak, Bamboos and Rhododendrons. The Bamboo forests are rarely seen on other treks, so it is very surprising to find them here on this trek.

For two days you will trek through the forests, the dense greenery will be your best companion and walking under the shade of trees will be a great delight. This place is wealthy in Flora and Fauna and gives a chance to spot different varieties of birds, this is a great place for birding as many rare species can be easily seen here and it is home to a number of animals.

Invigorating Meadows

The meadows and forest clearings have always been perfect for camping, it is bliss to camp amidst the forest or in the middle of a meadow and “Mukta Top” is included in one of the places which has got the best clearings like Kedarkantha. Snow covers the meadows in the winter season, which makes the sight eye pleasing and bracing. This is one of the reasons that it makes a great winter trek and can be done by beginners because of the low altitude.

Sublime view of Mountain Peaks

The meadows above forest offers view of some high peaks of Uttarakhand and the best thing about this winter trek is panoramic views of all these mountains are visible from the summit (3,608 m). If the weather is clear the peaks visible from the top are – Gangotri peak, Bandarpoonch (I) (II), Top of Nag Tibba, Mt. Jaonli, Mt. Kala Nag and Draupadi Ka Danda. Mukta Top is a “hidden gem” in Himalayas and very few people are aware of this place.

So choose this new trek to get wonderful experience of virgin trails of  “Mukta Top”.
