This is the only Ganga valley from where one can see Bhagirathi peak – I, II, III, . Shivling Peak and Matri Peak , Raktvan . , all together. One can also see the Tapovan And Nill Tal (4500 ,Meters ) peaks from here.
The trek takes one to Gomukh Bhojbasa after TM Program and breakfast. You enter the national park, walk on side of Bhagirathi river in a breathtaking scenery, a magnificent view on Shiv Ling Mountain, meeting pilgrim’s including Sanyasis and Sadhus. There are possibility to rest and take hot drinks and water in various places in comfortable small tent shops. All along the way there will possibility to continue the trek on mule back. On arrival, TM program, enjoy incredible scenery and sight of Shiv Ling Mountain. Tapovan (Sanskrit) comes from the two root words tapas – meaning pain or suffering,

Short itinerary Gomukh & Tapovan

 

Day 1:- Pickup to you from Dehradun Railway Station – Reach Gangotri; 10-12 hours drive from Dehradun Transport will be arranged from Dehradun Railway Station at 6.30 am.

 

Day 2:- After breakfast Gangotri (10,145 feet) to Chirbasa (11,761 feet); 6 hours, 9 km

 

Day 3:-  After breakfast Chirbasa (11,761 feet) to Bhojbasa (12,761 fit); 3 hours, 5 km.

 

Day 4:-  After breakfast Bhojbasa (12,450 feet) to Tapovan (14,202 feet) via Gaumukh; 6/7 hours, 7 km

 

Day 5:-  After breakfast Explore Tapovan and nill tal chokhamba shivling base

 

Day 6:- After breakfast Tapovan (14,345 feet) to Bhojbasa camp (12,763 feet); 5 hours, 7 km

 

Day 7:- : After breakfast Bhojbasa camp (12,763 feet) to Gangotri (10,145 feet); 6/7 hours, 14 km

 

Day 8:- After breakfast Depart Gangotri to Dehradun by taxi for Same way

 

Gomukh , Tapovan Day by Day Itinerary

 

Day 1: Pick up to you from DehraDun to Gangotri by taxi (245km) (8/9hrs) .Over night stay in hotel

Today our first day start journey . meet the guide and Drive to Uttarkashi . via the hill towns of Mussoorie / Uttarakashi & i which takes 5-6 hrs. The Chinyali saur near by Tehri Dam with a capacity to generate 2400 MW of electricity and the massive Tehri Daam can be seen during the journey. .
Then drive to Gangotri nice drive along right bank of river Ganga ( Bhagirathi ) in the mid way visit Hot spring and teak sulfur bath in Gangnani . On the way beautiful view of Grater Himalayas ,Harshil and green forest . On arrival check hotel in evening visit holly city Gangotri ,7pm see nice Siromani {Arti} of Goddess GANGA Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day 02- After breakfast from Gangotri to– Chirbasa (09 km), (4/5hrs) on trek, Altitude 3800, Meters )over night stay in tents

Today after breakfast from gangotri Start trek to Chidbasa camp after .You enter the national park, The trail to Chirbasa goes through a Forest Check Post around 1.5 km from Gangotri Our Mandakini Hotel . A trail goes up from the bus stand towards the left side inside the forest. The trail runs on the left side of the market area and one can take multiple trails from inside of the market to connect with the trail. Walk till you reach the Forest Check Post.walk on side of Bhagirathi river in a breathtaking scenery, a magnificent view on Shiv Ling Mountain, meeting pilgrim’s including Sanyasis and Sadhus.

There are possibility to rest and take hot food and water in various places in comfortable small tent shops. All along the way there will possibility to continue the trek on mule back. On arrival, TM program, enjoy incredible scenery and sight of Shiv Ling Mountain, dinner and rest under tent . Overnight stay Camping Side Chidbasa .
Day 03- After breakfast from Chirbasa to Bhojbasa (5km) (3/4hrs) (3820, Meters ) Over night stay in tents

Start trek to Bhojbasa, a magnificent view on Shiv Ling Mountain, meeting pilgrim’s including Sanyasis and Sadhus. There is possibility to rest and take hot drinks and water in various places in comfortable small tent shops. All along the way there will possibility to continue the trek on mule back. On arrival, start the trek towards Bhojwasa via Chidbasa (3600, Meters ).

From Chidbasa one moves along the well formed track towards Chidbasa , a small patch of Pine trees en route. The entire trek follows a parallel course along the roaring Bhagirathi River steadily gaining altitude with every step taken.

The trek further to Bhojvasa is along a the path that slowly flattens out and dips suddenly to reveal Bhojvasa with a small temple and a potential campsite near the river. The camp is set up near the river. Afternoon free to explore the area and to enjoy excellent sunset on Bhagirathi 03 peak group of peaks. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

 

Day 04- After breakfast from Bhojbasa to Gomukh – Tapovan (8,Km) (5/6hrs) ( Altitude 4,500 ,Meters ) over night stay in tents

After breakfast, Trek to Gomukh, Puja, Dip and Group Meditation. This the snout of the Gangotri Glacier and the present source of Bhagirathi River, which joins with Alaknanda River, to form Ganga at the craggy-carved town of Devprayag. Gomukh is the spot where the water from the glacier trickles down to form the river.
The sages called it ‘Gomukh’, because in the distant past, it probably appeared like a cow’s mouth. Explore the area and trek to Tapovan, one of the finest high altitude alpine meadows in the area.
The trek from Gomukh to Tapovan is a steep ascent over the side of the glacier, and as one climbs, the view of the surrounding peaks becomes clearer. It is particularly auspicious to take a dip at the Source of the Holy Ganges. Then trek to Tapovan (Altitude 4500, Meters ), “the Abode of the Gods”. The trail is passing over the Glacier over Gomukh.

 

 

Day 5 :-   Rest day and around the trek nill tal and close to Shivling , 1 day in Tapovan at full moon over night stay in tents

After Barkfast then visit Himalayan Tapovan (Altitude 4500, Meters ), “the Abode of the Gods”. The trail is passing over the Glacier over Gomukh, then 400,Meters steep. Tapovan is a very special place where Yogis and Sadhus recluse meditate in surrounding caves.
The day is spent on acclimatization, relaxation and enjoying a view of the magnificent snow clapped peaks, flora, fauna and the mountain landscape. Explore the Kriti & Meru Glaciers.Tapovan has Heavenly Lakes and is at the foot of the majestic Shivling Peak.

 

Day 6:-   After breakfast form Tapovan –to Bhojbasa . (8km.) (5/6hrs) over night stay in tents

After Breakfast and then 4hrs trek down to Bhojbasa with a short stop at Gomukh. Enjoy the early morning sunrise on high peaks, and witness the changing colours of the mountain peaks in the sunrays of dawn. .Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

 

Day 7 :- After breakfast from Bhojbasa to Gangotri ((14 kms),(6/7hrs) (3000, Meters ) over night stay in hotel

After Breakfast and then 6 hrs trek same way to Gangotri with a short stop at Chirbasa Enjoy the early morning sunrise on high peaks, and witness the changing colours of the mountain peaks in the sunrays of dawn join to evening ganga arti . .Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel

 

Day 8 :- After breakfast Gangotri – Uttarkashi – Dehradun/ Risikesh (270 kms, 12hrs drive).over night stay hotel

Morning Barkfast and then Starta Drive from Gangotri to uttarkashi at lunch and then drive from Dehradun 170km. lang on arrival check hotel . At evening trek tours service End.

 

Gomukh Glacier

The glacier follows a N. Westerly route located below Chaukhamba Mountain, the highest peak of the group so looking four nice view for Himalayas and . evening time

View High Altitude Snow Peak In Tapovan .

It is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Western Himalayas. A delight for trekkers, both in summer and winter, This is the only Ganga valley from where one can see Bhagirathi peak – I, II, III, . Shivling Peak and Matri Peak , Raktvan . , all together. One can also see the Tapovan And Nill Tal (4600 Meters ) peaks from here.

Getting to the base camp . at uttarkashi

Take an overnight train to Dehradun from Delhi. New Delhi-Dehradun A/C special train from New Delhi station is the best option. The train reaches Dehradun at 5.40 am. If you Meet to our office member and drive to .Barsu camp
HPMA – Arrange to you transportation for you from Dehradun Railway station to uttarkashi camp and back the transport is in Bolero, .Inovva , Tampo traveller

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 25 km from the city. There is a daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun

By Bus

There is regular bus service from Delhi to Dehradun, from Delhi, ISBT Kashmere Gate.

We would suggest you to take only government buses from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Private buses ply from outside ISBT and they are not trust worthiness.

Usually buses drop you at Dehradun ISBT. From there you have to come to Dehradun Railway Station meet us railway stion 6:30 Am

Key Points about this trek:

  • Level: Moderate (so first timers should avoid)
  • Proper conditioning & training of body required
  • Need proper gear & clothing for sub-zero temperatures?
  • Shoes are the single most important equipment
  • High Altitude requires proper acclimatization
  • Post monsoon or pre-monsoon is the best time. During rains the region is prone to landslides
  • Phones don’t work
  • Beautiful landscape so carry good photo gear (I couldn’t carry my best equipment)
  • Travel light (my backpack was heavy at about 10 kg)
  • Keep an extra day in your itinerary for crossing the pass to account for bad weather

  2. Medical Certificate (first part to be filled by a doctor and second part by the trekker)

Participants must bring:
Sturdy hiking boots:

preferably all leather upper as it provides better ankle support. If you do not own a pair yet, it is advisable that you buy one as soon as possible & wear it often so that they are well broken. This will help prevent blisters.

  1. Light weight tennis shoes/sandals: for wearing in camp.
  2. Wool socks: 2 pairs: preferably thick wool socks.
  3. Nylon socks: 2-3 Pairs, of the type you wear daily to be worm under the wool socks to prevent blister.
  4. Hiking shirt: 1 Preferably long sleeve
  5. Long John top: 1 also known as thermal underwear, preferably wool to be worm as first layer.
  6. Warm shirts & pants for camp: 1 each
  7. Rain cot 1 each
  8. Warm Jacket: 1
  9. Wool gloves: 1 pairs as thick as available in the market.
  10. Long John bottoms: Preferably wool to be worm as first layer.
  11. Under wear: 2-3 changes
  12. Hiking shorts / pants: 1
  13. Sun hat: Cotton or nylon.
  14. Sun Glasses:Preferably with an anchor
  15. Sun Protection Lotion: optional
  16. Lip balm/chap stick: optional
  17. Water bottle: 2 Bottles of 1 Liter capacity (Pepsi bottles work well) please insure that they do not leak.
  18. Head lamp / flashlight:  Preferably a headlamp as it leaves your hands free to work please bring extra batteries.
  19. Toilet articles: Tooth brush, Tooth Paste  etc
  20. Packet Knife : Optional

It is wise to make your booking at least two months in advance. In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, andcancellation charges would be as follows.

Up to 24 Days: 95% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refund.

Between 14-24 Day: 70% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refund.

Between 14-10 Days: 50% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.

Less than 10 Days:No refund

Backpack carrying:   

H.P.M.A expects all trekkers to carry their own backpacks. If for some reason a trekker is unable to carry his or her backpack, he/she can offload the backpack to the H.P.M.A office by paying a charge of Rs 300 per backpack per day. . This money has to be paid to H.P.M.A office … (last moment arrangements are difficult and expensive).

Fitness:   

An high altitude trek in the Himalayas requires considerable fitness. Your body needs to train itself to process more work with lower levels of oxygen. Therefore, on treks, cardiovascular training is critically important. You need to be able to jog a distance of 4.5 km in 30 mins before start of the trek. Unable to do so can make your trek difficult. In addition, preparation of trek needs to include strength and flexibility training. Trekkers who have not adequately prepared may be asked to discontinue the trek at any point.
