Welcome to Team – Har ki dun Protection & Mountaineering Association – Phulara Ridge Trek In Uttarakhand (India) – The best Summer . trek in the Himalayas Uttarkashi District (Uttarakhand)

The trail begins at Sankri base camp Phulara trek is best Ridge trek in Uttarakhand Himalayas.

Trek is a classic summer trek. The trek provides a great opportunity for new trekkers to see the scenic beauty and experience the life of remote villages of Garhwal Himalayas.

Phulara Trek lies in the Govind Wild life Sanctuary and National Park in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

Short Itinerary Phulara Ridge Trek

 

Day 1:- Pick up to you from Dehradun Railway Station to Sankri (Drive (210km) (7/8 Hrs). (1950. Meters) breakfast and lunch on the way.

Camptifall – (Breakfast) Around – 8:30.am

Purola – (Lunch) Around – 1:30.Pm

 

Day 2:- After breakfast from Sankri to Sikolta by trek (07.Km) (4/5, Hours) (2900. Maters) overnight stay in Camp

 

Day 3:- After breakfast from Sikolta  to Bhoj Gadi camp   (5 km) (2/3.hours ) (3470. Meters) overnight stay in camp

 

Day 4:-  After breakfast from Bhoj Gadi Camp to Via Phulara summit Ridge, (3700, Meters )(12300 Feet)  Pushtara thach .9556  Feet ) (5/6 hours ) overnight stay in camp

 

Day 5:-  After breakfast from Pushtara thach to Taluka by trek (8 Km) (5 .Hours ) same day drive to sankri  (1920. Meters ) night stay Swargarohini Hotel

 

Day 6:- After breakfast from Sankri to Dehradun (Drive to 210km) (7/8hrs)

 

Why trekking in Phulara Ridge?

-Snowfall starts from December and is there till April, there are all snow covered meadows at that time.

-Different adventurous activities in one trek.

-Boredom can never strike you while travelling to Phulara trek . dfehradun starting point Mussoorie, Nowgaon , purola mori , sankri and other beautiful places are on the way.

-The view from the top of Phulara Ridge trek  is one of the best reason of its beauty. Har-ki-dun, Purola-(Dhungira) their views are also available from there.

Religious place, different culture you can get to about their culture from the localites.

From top of Kedarkantha Swargarohini peak, Bandarpoonch (monkey-tail), Char-sing is visible.

ATM Point & Mobile connectivity :-

Sankri is the last point where you will receive mobile network. Only Vodaphone and BSNL so ensure you finish your important telephone calls here. Inform anxious family members about poor connectivity during the trek.

Dehradun, .  City is also where you will find the last ATM in case you need to withdraw money before starting the trek. Journey

Getting to the base camp HPMA – office and Hotel Sankri

Take an overnight train to Dehradun from Delhi. New Delhi-Dehradun A/C special train from New Delhi station is the best option. The train reaches Dehradun at 5.40 am. If you Meet to our office member and drive to Sankri base camp office Har-ki-dun  Road Sankri.

 

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 25 km from the city. There is a daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun

Note:-  Bangalore to Dehradun Flight  Available &  Delhi to Dehradun

  1. Nandadevi Express – Train no: 12205 (Departure 11:50pm; Arrival – 5:40am)
  2. Dehradun Express – Train no: 12687 (Departure – 9:10pm; Arrival – 5:00am)

By Bus

There is regular bus service from Delhi to Dehradun, from Delhi, ISBT Kashmere Gate.

We would suggest you to take only government buses from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Private buses ply from outside ISBT and they are not trust worthiness.

Usually buses drop you at Dehradun ISBT. From there you have to come to Dehradun Railway Station meet us railway station  6:30 Am.

 

Key Points about this trek:

– Level:  Phulara Trek  – Moderate  .

– Proper conditioning & training of body required

– Need proper gear & clothing for sub-zero temperatures?

– Shoes are the single most important equipment

– High Altitude requires proper acclimatization

– Post monsoon or pre-monsoon is the best time. During rains the region is prone to landslides

– Phones don’t work

– Beautiful landscape so carry good photo gear (I couldn’t carry my best equipment)

– Travel light (my backpack was heavy at about 12 kg)

– Keep an extra day in your itinerary for crossing the pass to account for bad weather

Mandatory Documents

Please carry the below documents.

  1. Original and photocopy of government photo identity card- ( Adhar Card, driving license, voters ID, etc.)
  2. Medical Certificate (first part to be filled by a doctor and second part by the trekker)
  3. Risk Certificates

Participants must bring:
Sturdy hiking boots:

preferably all leather upper as it provides better ankle support. If you do not own a pair yet, it is advisable that you buy one as soon as possible & wear it often so that they are well broken. This will help prevent blisters.

  1. Light weight tennis shoes/sandals: for wearing in camp.
  2. Wool socks: 2 pairs: preferably thick wool socks.
  3. Nylon socks: 2-3 Pairs, of the type you wear daily to be worm under the wool socks to prevent blister.
  4. Hiking shirt: 1 Preferably long sleeve
  5. Long John top: 1 also known as thermal underwear, preferably wool to be worm as first layer.
  6. Warm shirts & pants for camp: 1 each
  7. Rain cot 1 each
  8. Warm Jacket: 1
  9. Wool gloves: 1 pairs as thick as available in the market.
  10. Long John bottoms: Preferably wool to be worm as first layer.
  11. Under wear: 2-3 changes
  12. Hiking shorts / pants: 1
  13. Sun hat: Cotton or nylon.
  14. Sun Glasses:Preferably with an anchor
  15. Sun Protection Lotion: optional
  16. Lip balm/chap stick: optional
  17. Water bottle: 2 Bottles of 1 Liter capacity (Pepsi bottles work well) please insure that they do not leak.
  18. Head lamp / flashlight:  Preferably a headlamp as it leaves your hands free to work please bring extra batteries.
  19. Toilet articles: Tooth brush, Tooth Paste  etc
  20. Packet Knife : Optional

It is wise to make your booking at least two months in advance. In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, andcancellation charges would be as follows.

Up to 24 Days: 95% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refund.

Between 14-24 Day: 70% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refund.

Between 14-10 Days: 50% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.

Less than 10 Days:No refund

Backpack carrying:   

H.P.M.A expects all trekkers to carry their own backpacks. If for some reason a trekker is unable to carry his or her backpack, he/she can offload the backpack to the H.P.M.A office by paying a charge of Rs 300 per backpack per day. . This money has to be paid to H.P.M.A office … (last moment arrangements are difficult and expensive).

Fitness:   

An high altitude trek in the Himalayas requires considerable fitness. Your body needs to train itself to process more work with lower levels of oxygen. Therefore, on treks, cardiovascular training is critically important. You need to be able to jog a distance of 4.5 km in 30 mins before start of the trek. Unable to do so can make your trek difficult. In addition, preparation of trek needs to include strength and flexibility training. Trekkers who have not adequately prepared may be asked to discontinue the trek at any point.
