Welcome to Team – Har ki dun Protection & Mountaineering Association – Har-ki-dun valley Trek In Uttarakhand  (India) – The best Summer and winter trek in the Himalayas Uttarkashi  District (Uttarakhand)

 When it comes to trekking in our local mountain Garhwal . Sankri in uttarakhand (India)  Har-ki-dun trek  valley    Trek is a classic Summer and winter trek. The trek provides a great opportunity for  all trekkers to see the scenic beauty and experience with us  the life of remote villages , Saur, Sankri, Dhatmir, Osla, Gangar  of Garhwal Himalayas. from there on .

Har-ki-dun Trek lies in the Govind Wild life Sanctuary and National Park in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. .

The drive to Sankri (From where the Har ki dun . trek starts) is one of the most picturesque drives in the Himalayas through Dehradun , Mussoorie, Nainbag , Damta , Nawgano , Purola, Mori, Netwar, Sankri Taluka  along the Tons River Osla .har-ki-dun , Manida lake , trek is one the easiest treks in the .

This is the only valley from where one can see Swargarohini – I, II, III, (6300, Meters ) Bandarpoonch and Blackpeak (6387, Meters ) , all together. One can also see the Ruinsara Lake (3400 Meters) peaks from here

Short Itinerary Kedarkantha

 

Day 1:- Pick up to you from Dehradun Railway Station to Sankri (Drive (210km) (7/8 Hrs). (1950. Meters) breakfast and lunch on the way

  1. Camptifall – (Breakfast) Around – 8:30.am
  2. Purola – (Lunch) Around – 1:30.Pm

 

Day 2:- After breakfast from Sankri to Juda ka Talab by trek (05.Km) (4/5hrs) (2700. Maters) over night stay in Camp

 

Day 3:-  After breakfast from Juda ka talab to Kedarkantha base camp (03 km) (2/3.hrs) (3400. Meters ) over night stay in camp

 

Day 4:-  After breakfast from Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha  Summit (12500. feet) (3800. Meters) Explore some time there take the beautiful pictures   and back to Hargano thach (07km) over night stay in tents

 

Day 5:-  After breakfast from Hargano thach to Sankri (5.Km) (3/4 .hrs) (1920. Meters ) night stay Swargarohini Hotel

 

Day 6:- After breakfast from Sankri to Dehradun (Drive to 210km) (7/8hrs)

 

Day 7:- After breakfast from Cheludgad to Taluka By trek (13km) (2400mt),Same day drive t o sankri by taxi (11km) (5/6hrs) over night stay our swargarohini hotel

 

Day 8:- After breakfast Drive from Sankri to Dehradun by taxi Travel (210km) (7/8hrs) take the overnight train to Delhi

 

Kedarkantha Trek Details Trek, Itinerary

 

Day 1: Pick up to You Dehradun to Sankri Drive (210km) (8/9 Hrs) (1920 Meters ) over night stay in hotel

Reached Dehradun  Through the Yamuna and Tons valleys across the Yamuna bridge, Nainbagh, Nowgaon, Purola  (Jarmola is one of the biggest and most beautiful pine forests in Asia), Mori and Netwar. Trek to a tiny & beautiful market in Sankri, a few wooden huts a beautiful hotel serve simple yet delicious food. Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel Swargarohini !

 

Day 02- After breakfast from Sankri to Juda ka Talab by trek (05.Km) (4/5hrs) (2700. Maters) over night stay in Camp

After breakfast start trek sankri Juda ta talab (2700.Metere) on an even surface through thick forests, with a few water falls on the way.  Juda ka talab almost to perfect setting as a camp site with large talab surrounded by tree line in tent at the camping! It takes about 4-5 hours to reach Juda ka Talab, covering 5 km, with an altitude gain of 2700 Meters.)

Start your trek out of the village our village. saur, into a pine forest and climb to the top of a ridge. Look out for langoors, wild boars, and hares on your way up. The trail passes through dense pine forests, maple trees, a few streams and finally opens out to a beautiful clearing – Juda Ka Lake. Juda-Lake is almost too perfect in its setting as a campsite, with a large lake to your left and a dense oak and pine forest to your right.

 

Day 03- After breakfast from Juda ka talab to Kedarkantha base camp (03. Km) (2/3.hrs) (3400. Meters ) over night stay in camp

After breakfast from Juda talab to Base Kedarkantha (3.Km), (2/3 hrs) Today’s trek is quite short but there’s close to 2200 feet of altitude gain Kedarkantha base camp 3400.Meters). You could either opt for the steep climb of Bainya thach, which is a path with beautiful views, or Dinner and overnight stay at the Kedarkantha Base camp site in tent.  !

The trail again goes through a upper our local jungle and opens into another clearing called , banj, burans , kail, Devdaar, Mowru ka Thatch. Take a short break here to enjoy the serenity of the place. After talkhetra , you trek through a tree covered area on steep terrain. The tree cover slowly loses density and you see Rhododendron trees one the way . Now you’re just an hour away from  Kedarkantha Base.

 

Day 04- After breakfast from Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha  Summit (12500. feet) (3800. Meters) Explore some time there take the beautiful pictures   and back to Hargano thach (07km) over night stay in tents

After breakfast from- Kedarkantha base camp  (Bainya base To Kedarkantha Summit (3800. Meters ) (12500. Feet) by trek (3.5.Km .

On Kedarkanta (3800. Meters ) mountains, with Today you are  make the final push towards the Kedarkantha Peak summit (12500fee) . Start from Kedarkantha Base Camp  at 5:00 AM. Those of you carrying your personal Day Pack , Water bottle ,  rucksacks will need to pack up the previous night and take all your belongings with you. Kedarkantha summit is around (3 Km from Kedarkantha base camp.

Note: – You can drop off your main rucksacks Base camp the summit and proceed with just a day pack Camera , Phone, main paper . You can collect your rucksacks again during the descent. If you are offloading your bag, carry a day back – your rucksacks will be taken directly to Our 3rd Camp Hargaon Thach

Gradual ascent that offers excellent views of the snow-covered mountains and vast valleys with huge water falls. The area is home to a number of rare species of Himalayan birds, Animal All Forest area and flowers, and is full of birch and spruce. After the last steep climb of. The beautiful Swargarohini, Harkidun Valley and Kalanag / black Pick stands tall ove rlooking this Valley of God. Shiv, back to camp site Dinner and overnight stay at the Comping at tent.

 

 

Day 5 :-  After breakfast –exploring the Har-ki-dun valley  campsite Distance: 3km / 9km Time taken: 4 hours / 6 hours (Manida lake ) (Jamdar Glacier)

Today  from- Hargano thach to Sankri by Trek (5.Km ) (1920. Meters) (3/4. hrs) After breakfast hargano to sankri done to apple orchid The Beautiful, forest valley  an Out of area to view some hats   and see  beautiful Swargarohini Peak (6387 Meters .) Reached hotel have some lunch – enjoy the day Dinner,  overnight stay at the Hotel

 

DAY 06:-  After breakfast Sankri to Dehradun drive (210km) (7/8hrs) Take the over  night train from Dehradun to Delhi.

Kedarkantha peak , it is one of the most beautiful peak (360 Degree view point)   in the Western Himalayas. This is god shiva , Ganpati ,  A delight for trekkers, both in summer and winter, this trek  is accessible through Govind National Park – known for its rich variety of flora and fauna. Bugyal  The trail through alpine meadows, moraine ridges, glacier basins, pine forests and ancient villages, gives you spectacular valley views and a chance to experience the wonderful slow-paced local lifestyle.

Getting to the base camp HPMA – office and Hotel

Take an overnight train to Dehradun from Delhi. New Delhi-Dehradun A/C special train from New Delhi station is the best option. The train reaches Dehradun at 5.40 am. If you Meet to our office member and drive to Sankri base camp office Har-ki-dun  Road Sankri .

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 25 km from the city. There is a daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun

By Bus

There is regular bus service from Delhi to Dehradun, from Delhi, ISBT Kashmere Gate.

We would suggest you to take only government buses from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Private buses ply from outside ISBT and they are not trust worthiness.

Usually buses drop you at Dehradun ISBT. From there you have to come to Dehradun Railway Station meet us railway stion 6:30 Am

  1. Original and photocopy of government photo identity card- ( Adhar Card, driving license, voters ID, etc.)
  2. Medical Certificate (first part to be filled by a doctor and second part by the trekker)

Participants must bring:
Sturdy hiking boots:

preferably all leather upper as it provides better ankle support. If you do not own a pair yet, it is advisable that you buy one as soon as possible & wear it often so that they are well broken. This will help prevent blisters.

  1. Light weight tennis shoes/sandals: for wearing in camp.
  2. Wool socks: 2 pairs: preferably thick wool socks.
  3. Nylon socks: 2-3 Pairs, of the type you wear daily to be worm under the wool socks to prevent blister.
  4. Hiking shirt: 1 Preferably long sleeve
  5. Long John top: 1 also known as thermal underwear, preferably wool to be worm as first layer.
  6. Warm shirts & pants for camp: 1 each
  7. Rain cot 1 each
  8. Warm Jacket: 1
  9. Wool gloves: 1 pairs as thick as available in the market.
  10. Long John bottoms: Preferably wool to be worm as first layer.
  11. Under wear: 2-3 changes
  12. Hiking shorts / pants: 1
  13. Sun hat: Cotton or nylon.
  14. Sun Glasses:Preferably with an anchor
  15. Sun Protection Lotion: optional
  16. Lip balm/chap stick: optional
  17. Water bottle: 2 Bottles of 1 Liter capacity (Pepsi bottles work well) please insure that they do not leak.
  18. Head lamp / flashlight:  Preferably a headlamp as it leaves your hands free to work please bring extra batteries.
  19. Toilet articles: Tooth brush, Tooth Paste  etc
  20. Packet Knife : Optional

It is wise to make your booking at least two months in advance. In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, andcancellation charges would be as follows.

Up to 24 Days: 95% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refund.

Between 14-24 Day: 70% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refund.

Between 14-10 Days: 50% of Trek/adventure program cost will be refunded.

Less than 10 Days:No refund

Backpack carrying:   

H.P.M.A expects all trekkers to carry their own backpacks. If for some reason a trekker is unable to carry his or her backpack, he/she can offload the backpack to the H.P.M.A office by paying a charge of Rs 300 per backpack per day. . This money has to be paid to H.P.M.A office … (last moment arrangements are difficult and expensive).

Fitness:   

An high altitude trek in the Himalayas requires considerable fitness. Your body needs to train itself to process more work with lower levels of oxygen. Therefore, on treks, cardiovascular training is critically important. You need to be able to jog a distance of 4.5 km in 30 mins before start of the trek. Unable to do so can make your trek difficult. In addition, preparation of trek needs to include strength and flexibility training. Trekkers who have not adequately prepared may be asked to discontinue the trek at any point.
